Andrea Weber, is French-German artist living and working in Paris. She is interested in the notion of space and time (the word temps in French being a homonym means both time and weather ) and in the relationship between the body and the surrounding space. Her work invites to contemplation and reverie and is displayed in the exhibition spaces creating landscapes based on her work about the color of the sky and its change over time and other natural phenomena.
She combines abstract paintings made from a protocol called Weathertranscription on tracing paper, tarps or canvas with objects derived from this practice. When installing her works, she uses the walls and the floor as a setting and her pieces unfold in the exhibition space and establish a dialogue with the viewers who are invited to wander through the exhibition. During performances, she activates the space and the works with elements such as dance or reading, and the gallery becomes a scenographic setting.
As an extension of the installation work, she stages herself in nature, forming a relationship with the environment through costume and gestures that she captures in photographs.
After completing a degree in photography at the University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, she furthered her training at the Beaux Arts in Paris. She also holds a diploma in Qi Gong ( energetic and martial art) and is a recipient of the Capes, certificate for the qualification of teaching visual arts in France.
//
